Privacy Policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Cheers Social LLC (“we,” “us”) collects when you use the CHEERS! app and this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what’s needed to send CHEERS! between you and your friends, we don’t sell your information, and you can delete everything at any time.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address, password (stored securely, never in plain text), display name, and username.
- Photos you send: the drink photos you share as CHEERS!.
- Place names: if you add a location to a CHEERS!, we store the place name you choose, like “Harbor Tap Room.” When you tap “Use my location,” your phone uses your position to suggest a name, but we never receive or store your coordinates.
- Friends and activity: who you’re friends with, the CHEERS! you send and receive, and when you like or cheer back.
- Safety information: people you’ve blocked, and any reports you file or that are filed about content you share.
- Notification token: a code from your phone that lets us send you CHEERS! notifications.
- Phone number (optional): if you add your phone number in Account and settings, we text you a code to confirm it’s yours and store the number with your account. We use it only so friends who have your number saved can find you, and we don’t show it to anyone.
- Contacts matching (optional): if you tap Find friends from contacts, your phone turns the email addresses and phone numbers in your contacts into scrambled one-way codes and sends only those codes to check which belong to CHEERS! members. We don’t store your contacts or the codes, and contact names stay on your phone.
- Drink tags (IB Cheers): in IB Cheers, the version of the app made with Indiana Beverage, you can tag what you’re drinking with a style and brand. We store those tags with the CHEERS! you send.
- App activity (IB Cheers): when you tap Find it or open a featured card in IB Cheers, we record that tap and which brand or card it was, so we can count how many people use these features.
- Waitlist emails: if you join our waitlist on this website, the email address you enter.
We don’t use advertising trackers. We only use your camera or photo library when you take or choose a photo to send.
How we use it
- To run CHEERS!: create your account, deliver CHEERS! to the friends you choose, send notifications, and show your history.
- To keep people safe: review reports, enforce our Terms of Use, and prevent abuse.
- To contact you about your account or important changes, and to tell waitlist members when CHEERS! launches.
Who can see your information
- Your friends: the people you send a CHEERS! to can see that photo, its place name, and your display name and username. Your photos are private and aren’t visible to anyone you didn’t send them to.
- Groups: when you send a CHEERS! to a group, everyone in that group can see it, along with your display name, username, and any likes or CHEERS! on it. Group members also see who else is in the group. Leaving a group removes you from it, and posts there are deleted if you delete your account.
- Other users: anyone signed in can find you by your exact username, or, if they have your email address or confirmed phone number in their contacts, through Find friends from contacts. They’ll see your display name and username. You can turn off contacts matching in Account and settings.
- Indiana Beverage (IB Cheers only): we share totals with Indiana Beverage, like how often each brand and style is tagged, popular place names and days, and how many people tap Find it or a featured card. These reports never include names, usernames, email addresses, photos, or who sent what to whom, and any brand, style, place, or card used by fewer than five people is left out. Indiana Beverage can also see the brand names in its own catalog, which it provides to us.
- Service providers: we use Supabase to store data and photos, Expo, Apple, and Google Firebase to deliver notifications, Resend to send account emails like password reset codes, and Twilio to send phone confirmation texts. They process information only to provide these services to us.
- Legal reasons: we may share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. The IB Cheers totals described above contain no personal information.
When you use Share to a group chat, the photo and message go to the app and people you choose, outside of CHEERS!.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, photos, friends list, CHEERS!, and notification tokens. Copies may remain in our encrypted backups for a short time before they’re overwritten. Reports about content may be kept longer when needed for safety or legal reasons.
Your choices
- Delete your account: in the app, go to History, then Account and settings, then Delete account.
- Notifications: turn them off anytime in your iPhone’s Settings.
- Location: adding a place is always optional, and you can turn off location access in your iPhone’s Settings.
- Contacts: finding friends from contacts is optional, and you can turn off contacts access in your iPhone’s Settings. To stop others finding you this way, turn off “Let people find me from their contacts” in Account and settings.
- Blocking: block anyone from the app to stop them contacting you.
- Access or correction: email us to request a copy of your information or to correct it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR. Email us and we’ll help.
Security
Your information is encrypted in transit, and access is limited by strict database rules so people can only see what’s meant for them. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Age requirement
CHEERS! is only for people of legal drinking age, and at least 21 in the United States. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone underage has an account, please tell us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
